Boric anhydride in sulfuric acid can be used as a scrubber to remove hydrogen fluoride gas formed as a by-product during the selective reduction of ketones to hydrocarbons using triethylsilane and boron trifluoride. [1] In combination with hydroxyapatite, this can be used to catalyze the Beckmann vapor-phase rearrangement process to form nylon-6. [2]
