General description
Bismuth (III) nitrate pentahydrate is a non-toxic, inexpensive, easy to handle and insensitive reagent, usually used in organic synthesis with various applications. [1]
Application
Bismuth (III) nitrate pentahydrate can be used in the following processes:
• Conversion of thioamide and thiourea into their oxo derivatives. [2]
• Transformation of aromatic aldehydes into carboxylic acids in microwaves and solvent-free conditions. [3]
• Synthesize coumarin by Pechmann condensation under solvent-free conditions. [1]
• As a precursor in the synthesis of pure bismuth ferrite (BFO) ceramics and modification of lanthanum. [4]
• As a nitration agent in the synthesis of methyl nitramino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzenes under microwave irradiation. [5]
• As a catalyst in the manufacture of 4-amino-5-pyrimidine carbonitrile and pyrimidinone derivatives. [6]
• Synthesis of glycosides by Fischer glycosylation from unprotected sugars. [7]
• Synthesis of bismuth oxide nanoparticles (Bi2O3). [10]
• Substituted Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridine oxidation 4. [8]
• Selective oxidation of sufides to sulfoxides. [9]
