• Bismuth (III) acetate is used as a starting material in the synthesis of bismuth (III) sulfide (Bi2S3) which can be used in mass heterojunction solar cells that can be processed in solution. [1] [2]

• Used in the production of hetero-bismuth sulfide (Au-Bi2S3) heteronostructure [3] and bismuth titanate nanorods [4] as photocatalysts.

• It is also used in the synthesis of triarylbismuth compounds. [5]
