General description

Benzene is a six-membered aromatic compound. Superhalogen-induced ionization capabilities of benzene molecules have been reported based on ab initio calculations. [2] Benzene, a commonly used industrial solvent is also a powerful air pollutant and carcinogen. [1]

Application

Benzene can be used in the following processes:

• Formation of phenyl acetate by aerobic oxidation using a Pd catalyst and acetic acid as a solvent. [5]

• Phenol formation by hydroxylation in the presence of mesoporous carbon nitride supported by the vanadium catalyst. [3]

• As a solvent for preparing gallium nitride (GaN) nanoparticles by reacting Li3N and GaCl3 at 280 ° C. [4]
